Welcome to FeastSoul
By Harvey Mitchell
Every neighborhood in Chicago has a story told through food.
The Ethiopian flavors of Uptown. The taquerias of Pilsen. The soul food spots of Bronzeville. Behind every dish is an owner with a dreamâsomeone who took a chance, worked late nights, and built something for their community.
The Problem
You want to support these restaurants. But finding them? That's where it gets hard.
Maybe you've heard of EatOkra for Black-owned restaurants. Or stumbled across a "best of" list for one cuisine. But there's no single place to discover all minority-owned restaurantsâacross every culture, in every neighborhood.
Until now.
What We're Building
FeastSoul is a discovery platform for minority-owned restaurants. Not just one communityâall of them:
- Black-owned soul food spots and fine dining
- Latino taquerias and upscale Mexican
- Asian dim sum halls and family-run pho shops
- Middle Eastern bakeries and grill houses
- African Ethiopian and Nigerian gems
- Caribbean jerk chicken and roti spots
- European immigrant-owned trattorias and delis
One app. Every culture. Every flavor.
Why This Matters
When you eat at a minority-owned restaurant, you're not just getting a meal. You're:
- Supporting families who took a risk on their dreams
- Preserving culture through recipes passed down generations
- Strengthening neighborhoods with local economic impact
We believe intentional spending is powerful. FeastSoul makes it easy.
What's Next
We're in beta with 150 verified restaurants across Chicago. Every owner researched. Every cuisine represented.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be:
- Sharing owner spotlight stories
- Publishing neighborhood guides
- Building a community of "Feasters" who want to give back
Welcome to FeastSoul. Let's eat with intention.
